What Parents Can Expect

Inclusivity and Growth

Youth of all backgrounds and ability levels are welcome! No prior experience is required—skills and fitness are built progressively in a supportive environment. Cadets take on real leadership roles and learn to work as part of a team through hands-on maritime activities. Along the way, they build confidence, motivation, and respect for others.

Safety is Our Number One Priority

Safety is our highest priority. All adult volunteers undergo regular background checks, and cadets are supervised by trained adults throughout all activities. Cadets are treated with respect and dignity at all times and are taught to show the same consideration for others in every situation.

Military Oriented? Not Really!

While cadets wear uniforms and learn discipline and respect for leadership, the program is focused on youth development and personal growth, not military training. Sea Cadets take part in numerous activities, community service, and build confidence, teamwork skills, and lasting friendships while exploring opportunities not found in traditional youth programs.

Time Commitment

Our unit typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Additional activities, such as Wreaths Across America or other special events, may be scheduled occasionally. Extended training away from home takes place during school breaks, allowing cadets to participate without impacting their academic responsibilities.
